Details:
In honor of the National Get Outdoors Day, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at J. Percy Priest Lake is hosting a guided tour of the Three Hickories Nature Trail located at the Cook Recreation Area on June 13, 2009. There are two tours scheduled. The first will begin at 9 a.m. and will end at 11 a.m. The second will begin at 12:30 p.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. The tours will be held at Three Hickories Nature Trail. They will focus on the history, unique land features, and wildlife habitat in this area. Within the tour, you will learn about some of the different bird species found along the trail as well as life along the lakeshore for different kinds of animals. You will explore areas where tornados have struck, sinkholes have formed, caves have developed, and where flood events have occurred. You will also see an area where Mother Nature has created her own outdoor classroom in the form of a rock amphitheater, visit an old home site, and learn about the unique habitat within cedar glade natural areas. So mark your calendar and plan to Get Outdoors! at one of Nashville’s most unique nature trails!
