AHOY SALT RIVER PIRATES! Salt River Tubing and Tonto National Forest will be hosting the 3rd Annual National Get Outdoors Day/Pirates on Salt River event on Saturday, June 12, 2010, 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Salt River Tubing is located in beautiful Tonto National Forest, just 7 minutes from Highway 202 East on north Power Road in northeast Mesa. Buccaneers will be introduced to a diverse offering of educational and recreational exhibits that provide activities in our forests, parks, refuges and other public lands and waters. The event is open to the public and will offer live entertainment by 98 KUPD radio station with free giveaways, water balloon contests and hula hoop contests. The event is co-sponsored by Tonto National Forest, the National Forest Recreation Association, 98 KUPD radio station and Salt River Tubing.
FREE PIRATE BOOTY!

Salt River Tubing officials will be offering FREE Pirate Bandanas to the first 1,000 participants during National Get Outdoors Day. Exhibitor visitation cards will be distributed to tubers and upon completion of the exhibit tour, tubers will be given a free pirate bandana! The company will also award free tubing passes to participants throughout the event for the best Pirate costumes.

YO HO HO and a BOTTLE OF WATER!

Attendees can join in the Pirate-themed merriment and enjoy floating picnics on the Salt River as pirate-costumed Salt River Tubing employees and Pirate Man-O-Wars (shuttle buses) ferry Salt River pirates to and from the river. The cost is $15 per person/per tube all day. Children must be eight years or older and at least four feet tall for tubing and shuttle bus service. Prime goals of the event will be reaching first-time visitors to public lands and reconnecting our youth to the great outdoors. The National Get Outdoors Day event has resulted in sold-out crowds the past two years -over 4,000 participants!
